The Real New York Eyes WBCP Trusts to Find Fighters
Born in Sicily and raised in the legendary streets of Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, Giovanni Gambino is New York fighting through and through. Before he was old enough to drive, he was already in the gym — at 15 years old, sparring with future Hall of Famer Arturo Gatti under the legendary trainer Hector Roca at the iconic Gleason’s Gym. That’s the kind of real, hands-on education in the sweet science that no classroom or scouting report can ever replace.
Life tested him beyond the ring. A union construction worker and shop steward with Local 79, Giovanni lived the New York grind — building with his hands while carrying the weight of personal trials, a near-death experience, and a devastating on-the-job injury that would have ended most men’s stories. He didn’t just survive. Through deep faith, family loyalty, and the unbreakable Bensonhurst code of honor and hustle, he turned every setback into strength. Today he stands as a battle-tested New Yorker who knows exactly what real heart looks like — because he’s lived it.
Now Giovanni brings that rare combination of street wisdom, gym experience, and proven resilience to WBCP as their premier talent scout for New York fighters. He doesn’t just watch prospects — he recognizes the ones who carry the same fire he saw in the greats. The hungry kid with heavy hands. The disciplined warrior with heart. The undiscovered talent who fights with soul, not just skill. Giovanni walks the gyms, streets, and backrooms of the five boroughs with an eye sharpened by real experience and a heart rooted in the same New York that produced legends.
He understands the fight game from every angle: the physical grind, the mental warfare, and the character it takes to rise when everything is stacked against you. That’s why WBCP trusts him to find the next generation of warriors who will represent New York the right way — with skill, heart, and honor.
Giovanni Gambino isn’t just scouting fighters. He’s protecting the culture of New York boxing and MMA — one real prospect at a time.
For WBCP discovering the fighters who will carry the torch for New York. Giovanni is also Tony’s cousin and trusted advisor.
